Practice Diligently Honoring the Virtue of Ajahn Chah | Friday Dhamma | 23 Jan 2026

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    Jan 23, 2026
"Every January 16, many Buddhists and disciples of Wat Nong Pah Pong gather to commemorate Luang Pu Chah Subhaddo through religious ceremonies and candlelight circumambulation around the stupa.
However, Luang Por Anan emphasizes that “practice as homage”—training the mind in accordance with the teachings—is of the highest importance and far more valuable than merely offering external objects.
Training the mind requires patience and mindfulness in order to separate the mind from emotions and defilements such as greed, anger, and delusion, leading to true inner peace.
Ultimately, learning to “let go” and to see the non-self nature of all things, in line with the guidance of the teachers, is the essential heart of the path that frees one from suffering and brings the highest blessing to life."

Lifting the Mind out of Depression | Luang Por Anan

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    Dec 13, 2020

2020. 09. 29 | In this talk, Ajahn Anan teaches that we need to have an instrument to measure our hearts, to know how they are and what they're doing. That instrument is mindfulness. When we are aware of our inner world, then we can adjust our practice according to its state. If our hearts are gloomy, there are many ways to lift them up.

The Art of Ajahn Chah's Training Method | Friday Dhamma | 30 Jan 2026

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    Jan 30, 2026

"Ajahn Anan spoke about the history and practice of Luang Pu Chah Subhaddo of Wat Nong Pah Pong, highlighting his exemplary monastic conduct and the rapid expansion of branch monasteries both within Thailand and abroad.
Ajahn Anan conveyed skillful teaching methods of the Dhamma that were simple yet profound, resembling a Zen-like approach, emphasizing the letting go of attachment and the abandonment of conceit in order to give rise to wisdom.
In addition, he shared accounts from direct experience that reflected Luang Pu’s compassion and formidable strength of mind. Even during periods of serious illness, Luang Pu continued to use his physical condition as a means to teach unity and mindfulness to the monks and novices without interruption.
These lessons serve as reminders to the Buddhist community to focus on Dhamma practice in order to refine the mind and free it from suffering in accordance with the true path of Buddhism."

Pure Love — The Story of Austin | Friday Dhamma | 13 Feb 2026

    Ajahn Anan Dhamma
    Feb 13, 2026

"As Valentine’s Day, the day of love, approaches, Luang Por Anan raised an incident that occurred in Western Australia, when a family experienced a kayaking accident in which strong waves and wind blew their kayak out into the sea until it capsized. The mother then decided to send her 13-year-old son named ‘Austin,’ who was the strongest, to swim back to shore to seek help. Austin had to decide to remove his life jacket in order to swim faster, amidst darkness, cold water, and fear of sharks.
What enabled Austin to survive and save his family was the use of ‘mindfulness’ and ‘wisdom.’ He overcame fear by changing his emotional state to think about joyful things, and managed his physical strength by alternating swimming styles—freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke—to conserve energy at intervals, until he was finally able to reach the shore and notify authorities to rescue his mother and siblings who were floating 14 kilometers from shore. Luang Por compared Austin to a ‘little Bodhisattva,’ one who possessed self-sacrifice and perseverance in accordance with the principle of the ‘Four Bases of Success.’
This story was compared to the great compassion of the Buddha, and serves as a reminder on Valentine’s Day for us to reflect on the love of our parents, and also to apply Austin’s determination in our meditation practice."
