University Grants Commission, UGC is inviting applications for the minority scholarships under the Maulana Azad National Fellowship, MAPF programme 2019. The notification for 1000 MANF Scholarship was released on December 17, 2018 on the official website uga.ac.in. The selection criteria has been revised to include all candidates enrolled for the MPhil or PhD courses in Indian Universities. The notification is available on ugc.ac.in.

Candidates belonging to any of the minority groups – namely Muslims, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist, Christians and Jains are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The MANF Scholarship would now be awarded to 1000 candidates as against the previous 756 candidates. Interested candidates are required to fill the online application forms available on ugc.ac.in/ugc-schemes.

Please note that the last date to apply for the scholarship is December 31, 2018. Candidates are advised to carefully go through the notification. Earlier scholarship notification had mentioned UGC NET and CSIR NET December 2017 and June 2018 as qualifying criteria. The new notification, however, does not mention it.

The new notification reads, “All candidates who belong to one of the minority communities i.e. Muslim, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist, Christian and Jain and who are enrolled for full time MPhil / Ph.D degree in Indian Universities/ Institutions/ Colleges recognized under Section 2(f) and Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 and CBSE/NTA-UGC-NET/JRF or CSIR-NET/JRF may apply.” Read official notification here.
